Originally from tropical Singapore, Dawn Tan moved to Melbourne in 2008 to pursue a Fine Arts degree in Painting. She met her husband while at University and fast forward over a decade later, they now live in Melbourne’s inner west, with their energetic little 5 Year old.
Finding inspiration from cooking, motherhood, nature and travel, Dawn is known for her signature watercolours of food as well as her custom house portraits.
Dawn's work, creative career and her workshops have been featured in many magazines, press and sites. Some of which includes Gourmet Traveller, Frankie Magazine, Lunch lady Magazine, Inside Out Magazine, The Age Newspaper, The Herald Sun, The Design Files, A Cup of Jo, Apartment Therapy. Throughout her career, Dawn has also collaborated with many notable organisations such as The National Gallery of Australia, City of Melbourne's ArtPlay, National Gallery of Victoria, Third Drawer Down, Heide Museum of Modern Art, The Jacky Winter Group, Craft Victoria, South Melbourne Market, Zart Art, Bellroy and so on.
When not painting, Dawn runs The Little Art Yurt, inspiring all of Melbourne’s inner west kids with her bespoke classes. With a huge passion for sharing and over 20 years of experience working as an educator, Dawn is a firm believer of nurturing creativity through process art. Dawn also runs The Little Art Yurt Club ( LAYC ) with fellow educator and mum friend, Jules from Stories of Play.
